VIERI believes that fine jewellery and responsible business practice cannot exist without each other. That is why we want to build a business on solid ethical and social principles. Respect the Beautiful is our expression for our sustainable actions.
We use ethically sourced and recycled gold as well as silver for every piece we make. Through personal relationships with our producers in Italy and Germany, we make sure that our jewellery is made of the highest quality and meets the best possible standards.
We constantly challenge ourselves to become better. We are not perfect yet, but we want to create something meaningful and honest. We believe that this is the first step towards taking responsibility.
VIERI owner Guya Merkle created the earthbeat foundation in 2013 after visiting regular working mining communities in Peru. She never expected to find these horrible conditions and was shocked by the huge gap between the sourcing of gold and the finished products. Jewellery was and still is a very emotional and desirable luxury good. It was evident to her that besides building VIERI on sustainable pillars she wanted to go one step further and create a positive vision for gold and its future.
The foundation is concentrating on a better future for gold mining communities working in small-scale mining all around the world. Its core objective is to create awareness and small projects, focusing on alternative income solutions for the miners through social businesses. Thereby, it is crucial to us that we work hand in hand with the communities to see what their ideas and needs are. At the moment the foundation is working with 80 miners on a honey business. They will become beekeepers, harvesting and selling their own honey – which we call liquid gold. Find more about the earthbeat foundation here: www.earthbeatfoundation.org
As a company VIERI supports the work of the Foundation with 1% of the total turnover and 3% of the annual profit and dedicates 10% of the sale of all wedding bands and the Respect the Beautiful Collection to local projects. In this way we not only offer our customers the opportunity to become part of the change, but also close a cycle that makes sense for us, in which we give back and create opportunities for a better and self-determined life.
